When Beverly was a child, she hated to read.
Even though her eighth-grade teacher sent her poem “Stars” to a high school
anthology, and it was published in
Young America Sings, she hated to write. In spite of her rocky
relationship with books, she attended Midwestern University and became a
teacher. As she read to her students and to her three sons, she discovered what
she’d been missing: reading was fun. She also started writing. To Beverly’s
surprise her articles and short stories were published in Ladybug, Focus on the Family Clubhouse
Jr., Jack and Jill, and other leading children’s magazines.
One article was reprinted in a Scott Foresman PK/K anthology. She has three
novels for teens out, Listen
to the Ghost, Secrets I Have Kept, Rebel in Blue Jeans and a
tween/teen novel Just Breeze.
Caves, Cannons and
Crinolines, her historical fiction novel is scheduled for release
spring 2010, and five other works are under contract.
Thank you, April, for hosting me at Red River Writers Blog Tour. I enjoy being a part of Red River Writers. Many exciting things are happening here. I've enjoyed reading about other authors and their work.

It was fun to learn that you didn't like reading as a kid. There's hope for all those reluctant readers out there. I love the title and cover of "Caves, Cannons and Crinolines." It begs me to open the book and find out what's inside.

I must be going crazy. I thought I'd posted another comment here. Either it's invisible or I didn't. So here goes. If this shows up twice, sorry. Thanks, Kathy for your nice comment. I agree that even though a kid may not like to read when she's younger, she/he can change. I did. There's always hope.
